What things do I need for a new lab puppy?
He’s going to be trained for bird hunting, so he can’t have chew toys, I know that much, but I feel like there is something I’m missing.

You should get one of those little kiddie pools they sell at Wal*Mart. My Lab mix adores water and I wish I had one for her! You might want to buy a gun also to prevent her from getting gun shy, but you probably already have that.
And if she’s a pup, she’s gonna need SOME kind of chew toy. She’ll be teething! What are you going to do then? Maybe you can use the toy as a way to teach her to be soft.
Sorry, I don’t know much about hunting dogs, but I will star this question for you. But I’m not sure if anyone on here has worked with them before….

Problem with teaching a new puppy to walk.?
I just got my new lab puppy a few days ago, she’s 13 weeks old. I’ve had a dog before and know generally how to train them although my last time actually training a puppy was about 15 years ago. I’m in the middle of starting to potty training my new lab as well as walk her. The problem I’m having is that she is reluctant, even to the point of plopping down and not moving away from the house or off the porch to pee.
Also, it seems that if I want her to go pee outside she will only go if she is in a specific place which is an inconvenience for me to go to every time I take her out.

Put her collar higher up on her neck, with the leash lift up and forward, gently prodding her forward. She’s just arguing with you and she might as well learn right from the beginning that when you want her to walk that’s what’s going to happen. As far as her wanting to “go” in one spot only, never take her to that spot again. She can’t hold it forever. Just remember to stay out until she “goes”.
